What is Juicing?

Maybe you’ve heard of juicing, or even tried it. The ability to drink all our fruits and vegetables in a juice is pretty appealing. But do you know exactly how juice can be beneficial to your health?

To break it down, juicing is basically squeezing all the liquid out of fruits and vegetables. In this process all fiber is removed and you just drink the liquid. That’s why when you read a bottle it always sounds like an insane amount of vegetables and/or fruit. Now there’s nothing wrong with fiber, but fiber does slow digestion. So the idea behind juicing is that you flood your body with TONS of rich nutrient quickly! I purchased a juicer because it just made sense to me. The price of juice at the store can be upwards of $10/bottle. If I was gonna drink this often, I figured I’d just buy one and make it myself! I linked the juicer I use to the right. Juicers can get pretty expensive, but this one is super affordable and great for anyone starting out. You can also view the juicer and bottles I use on my Shop tab.

The fun thing about juicing is you can make ANYTHING you want. Everything can be substituted and you can add different vegetables and fruits to make it taste how you like. I’ve used kale, carrots, cucumber, pears, apples, and limes – again, anything. To make things easy for you I included 5 healthy juicing recipes below. These are all beginner friendly, so you can do it! Let’s get juicing!

1. Celery Juice

The most classic juice there is. This one is simple, but shouldn’t be overlooked. When I hear celery juice – I typically think of people doing some type of detox or juice cleanses. While celery juice has great benefits, you should not replace any meals with this, and this definitely should not be the only thing you’re intaking in a day. Personally, I drink this because I like the taste and because, you know, health. Now, there’s more to juicing than just celery juice. While celery juice is a great staple, we’ll talk more about 4 additional healthy juicing recipes that have a little more to them.

Did you know celery juice is packed with vitamins K, A, and C? It also aids with digestion and has anti-inflammatory properties! People have jumped on this trend to reap these benefits.

Alright, let’s start juicing!
Here’s what you’ll need. This will make about 1 liter of juice (32 fluid oz).

  • 3-4 celery stalks (the whole bundle, not just 1 celery)

Once I’ve filled up the juice pitcher first thing I do is pour myself a glass! Then I pour the rest into my 12oz reusable bottles and put them in the refrigerator. That’s it! It keeps them fresh and ready for the week.

2. Celery Juice with a Kick

This is actually my favorite juice to make and is what I make regularly. It’s just like the standard celery juice above, but with a little something extra. In this one I add lemon and ginger. The lemon gives it a little more tang and the ginger gives it that kick! Keep in mind the more ginger you use, the “spicier” it’ll be, so I typically just tear off a small branch from my ginger root and add it to my liter.

Here’s some benefits of ginger that I bet you didn’t know – it helps with digestion, muscle and joint pain, and immune support!

Here’s what you’ll need. This will make about 1 liter of juice (32 fluid oz).

  • 3 celery stalks (the whole bundle, not just 1 celery)
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 branch of ginger (optional)

3. Celery Apple Carrot Juice

This one is a hidden gem. This will get you the benefits of the celery juice, but with a little sweeter taste. This is the juice I make for my friends who aren’t veggie lovers. So if that’s you, give this one a try!

Here’s what you’ll need. This will make about 1 liter of juice (32 fluid oz).

  • 2 celery stalks
  • 2 whole apples (red or green and I usually core mine)
  • 4 whole carrots
  • 1 lemon

4. Sweet Beet Juice

This one I was very skeptical of trying because I’m not a huge fan of beets. BUT the apples and carrots really balance it out with a sweet flavor. You’ve got to try this as least once!

Here’s what you’ll need. This will make about 1 liter of juice (32 fluid oz).

  • 4 whole carrots
  • 2 whole apples (cored)
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1 large beet

5. Pineapple Kale Cucumber Juice

If you’re wanting a refreshing and energizing juice – this is a must! This is a juice I just recently made and have kept the ingredients stocked for my next one. This is a great option for anyone who wants the benefits of the greens without the hard green taste.

Here’s what you’ll need. This will make about 1 liter of juice (32 fluid oz).

  • 1 1/2 medium pineapple
  • 6 cucumbers
  • 2 bunches of kale
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 branch of ginger
